Tajikistan’s wanted ISIS jihadi recruiter Umar Mirzoyev has been detained by Russian law enforcement officers at the St Petersburg airport.
Russia’s Federal New Agency (FAN) reports Umar Mirzoyev, internationally wanted for recruiting people to join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) terrorist organization, was detained in St Petersburg on November 15 before boarding the St Petersburg-Samara flight.
According to FAN, the family of 25-year-old Umar Mirzoyev lives in Samara. Mirzoyev has been living in Samara for several years.
Mirzoyev is also suspected of masterminding a number of terrorist acts. He has reportedly ordered his associates to commit terrorist acts in Khatlon’s Khuroson district, the city of Kulob and the settlement of Fakhrobod.
One of them was ordered to blow up the building of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS)’s office in Khuroson district, the second one was ordered to blow up a monument in the central park of the city of Kulob, and the third one was ordered to hoist ISIS flag on the roof of one of houses in the Fakhrobod settlement, according to FAN.
Russian news agencies report Mirzoyev will be extradited to Tajikistan.
