Tajik counter narcotics agency reports a huge hashish haul has been seized in Dushanbe.
Khoushnoud Rahmatulloyev, a spokesman for the Drug Control Agency (DCA) under the President of Tajikistan, says the drug haul has been seized in the course of a multi-stage operation to break up an organized criminal group involved in drug trafficking.
According to him, seven packages of narcotic drug that tested positive to hashish weighing 208 kilograms were found in a car driven by Afghan national Siddiq Mohammad Zirak, 30.
“The preliminary investigation has established that the car belongs to the 48-year-old resident of Dushanbe, Nourali Boboyev. He gave his car to Siddiq Mohammad Zirak for transporting drugs,” Rahmatulloyev said, noting that Boboyev was also detained on suspicion of being involved in drug trafficking.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against them and an investigation is under way.
