Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan visited Tashkent to participate in the first meeting of the Coordinating Group of the Ministries of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The Tajik delegation was headed by the first deputy minister, Major -General of militia Abdurahmon Alamshozoda.

Within the framework of the meeting, Alamshozoda met with the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Major-General Abdusalom Azizov, the press center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan informs.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of bilateral cooperation of agencies of internal affairs, fighting crime, especially in the sphere of terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, security and other forms of violation of the rule of law

Also, questions were raised on sharing experience, information and strengthening bilateral cooperation..

Recall, after the death of the first Uzbek President Islam Karimov, in September last year, relations between Tashkent and Dushanbe changed radically in many spheres for the better.

During the period of state independence, law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan did not conduct any joint operation to eliminate organized criminal groups with interstate relations.

According to many experts, the first working visit of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Uzbekistan, Azimov and his meeting with the Tajik Interior Minister Ramazon Rakhimzoda, which took place in Dushanbe in June, could fundamentally change the approaches to fighting crime in the two republics.
