On Wednesday December 13, President Emomali Rahmon and Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament) Speaker Rustam Emomali attended an official opening ceremony of an additional administrative building of the Prosecutor General's Office in Dushanbe, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

It is to be noted that a new unit – the Unified Information Center for Prevention of extremism, Terrorism and Cybercrime – is located in the new building.

Recall, Emomali Rahmon instructed the Prosecutor-General’s Office and other power-wielding structures to create such a structure while addressing a joint meeting of both chambers of parliament on December 23 last year,

Based on president’s decree dated April 19, 2023, the Unified Information Center for Prevention of Extremism, Terrorism and Cybercrime was established as a structural unit at the General Prosecutor's Office.

The Center is reportedly equipped with the latest information and communication technology and has a unified and centralized electronic system for anti-terrorist activity regulation.  The electronic system makes it possible to implement preventive measures against extremism and terrorism in the republic in a centralized and targeted manner.

The Tajik president’s official website says 40 qualified workers, mainly young people with knowledge and skills of working with modern information and communication technologies and foreign languages work for the Center. They collect, analyze and evaluate information on extremist, terrorist and cybercrimes, create a single database on the commission of such crimes, ensure cooperation and international support for their investigation, expand and strengthen cyber security, control the implementation of strategic information policy at the level of the country and deal with other issues.
