The Emergency Situations Committee of Tajikistan has received 16 pieces of diving equipment from the Turkish Agency for Cooperation and Coordination (TIKA) within the framework of bilateral cooperation, the press center of the Emergency Situations Ministry reports.

"The new equipment designed to perform deep-sea diving operations will significantly enhance the capabilities of the Committee to assist victims in emergency situations," the department noted.

The transfer ceremony was attended by the head of the KChS Rustam Nazarzoda, Turkish Ambassador to Tajikistan Umut Ajar and TIKA coordinator Ethem Unal. The parties expressed their willingness to continue working together to equip Tajik rescuers.

Earlier, Nazarzoda said that the Committee and its regional units have sufficient equipment to respond to emergencies. In particular, for the first time, the agency acquired heavy diving suits weighing 60-70 kilograms to work at significant depths and in strong currents.

At the same time, the KChS does not yet have its own helicopter, but hopes to purchase it in the near future. Helicopters from other agencies are currently being used for rescue operations.

According to the CES, 454 rescue operations were carried out in the first half of this year, during which 106 people were rescued, which exceeds the figures of last year.
