DUSHANBE, September 22, 2010, Asia-Plus -- The latest events in the east of the country must not lead to pressure on the constructive opposition and independent media, Tajik political scientist Doustmuhammad Doust said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
According to him, the country’s authorities must realize well that pressure on the constructive opposition, for example the Islamic Revival Party (IRP), and independent media may worsen the situation in the country.
“Today, Tajik authorities ought to cooperate with the constructive opposition and enlist its support,” said the expert, “Otherwise, the situation may grow out of control, I am afraid.”
He supposed that pressure on a certain group could be the main cause of the latest events in Rasht district.
