DUSHANBE, February 28, 2011, Asia-Plus -- Due to work carried out by the Russian Embassy in Tripoli, 14 Tajik nationals were brought by a plane of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry to Kiev, according to the Tajik MFA information department.
“From Kiev they were carried by rail to Moscow,” the source at the Tajik MFA information department said, noting that two other Tajik nationals were evacuated from Tripoli to Moscow by a plane of Russia''s Emergency Situations Ministry on February 27.
Besides, according to Tajik Embassy in Cairo, one Tajik national left Libya for Egypt and from there he went to Singapore and one more Tajik national left Libya for Turkey, the source said. “In all, 18 Tajik nationals have left Libya to date and six other our fellow-countrymen still remain there,” he added.
Earlier, the Tajik MFA information department said that there are 21 Tajik nationals in Libya, most of them students.
We will recall that on February 22, Tajik MFA formally solicited Russian help in bringing them home, as Tajikistan does not have an embassy in Tripoli. Russia''s Emergency Situations Ministry said Moscow was ready to help evacuate Tajik citizens from Libya, but first they would try to bring all Russian citizens home.
