QURGHON TEPPA, July 8, Asia-Plus -- On Friday July 8, Khatlon governor Ghaybullo Avzalov handed over gifts to 30 persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Qurghon Teppa, the capital of Khatlon province on the occasion of Day of People with Disabilities and Elderly.
The governor said the local authorities were doing all in their power to support elderly people, people with disabilities and vulnerable sections of the population.
Abdusamad Bobojonov, head of the Society of Persons with Disabilities of Qurghon Teppa, noted that the regional authorities and the Qurghon Teppa municipal government were always trying to be aware of problems facing local PWDs and elderly people. “With support from Avzalov, we married off two persons with disabilities on the eve of the Navrouz holiday,” Bobojonov said.
According to the official data, 570 PWDs have been registered with the Society of Persons with Disabilities of Qurghon Teppa to date.
