KULOB, August 29, 2011, Asia-Plus  -- Six new settlements built in Kulob for victims of last year’s floods have been connected to a transformer substation, built by Barqi Tojik (the state-owned utility responsible for generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity in Tajikistan) especially for them.

The Kulob municipal power supply network head Jumakhon Sharipov says the transformer’s capacity is 16,000 kVA (kilovolt-ampere) and the new substation will allow “partially discharging the neighboring “Kulob” substation during autumn-winter period.”

In the meantime, the Kulob regional power supply network head Mirzo Ismoilov told Asia-Plus today that a 5.2-kilometer power transmission line will be introduced into operation in the village of Sulduzi, Baljuvon district on September 9.
