KHUJAND, October 31, 2012, Asia-Plus -- In the northern Zafarobod district, thirty-seven people have been diagnosed with food poisoning, at least one has died.
An official source at the Sughd police directorate says one person died and thirty-six other people were hospitalized at the beginning of this week after eating pickled tomatoes at a funeral repast in the Mehnatobod settlement.
“On October 28, Mehnatobod resident Shakarali Nozirov held the funeral repast and 50-60 local residents were invited,” said the source. “Part of guests had a food poisoning after eating pickled tomatoes. The 31-year-old sister of Shakarali Nozirov -- Mastoura Nozirova -- died in a hospital on October 30.”
Thirty-six people are still in the Zafarobod central district hospital; seven of them are in resuscitation department, the source added.
