The administration of the city of Tursunzoda, some 60 kilometers to the west of Dushanbe, has provided assistance to local Orthodox church.
On Sunday December 4, Tursunzoda Mayor Sujoiddin Salomzoda and senior representatives of the Tursunzoda administration visited the Church of the Tunic of the Blessed Virgin Mary located in the city. The mayor reportedly handed over presents and food products to the few parishioners of the Church.
The senior priest of the Church of the Tunic of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Father Sergiy, expressed gratitude to the Tursunzoda authorities for attention they give to the Christian community and for improvement of the local Russian cemetery in the city.
They mayor reportedly promised to provide assistance to the local Russian-speaking community and the Orthodox church in the future as well.
