The Government of Tajikistan and the European Union (EU) yesterday announced the disbursement of 9.36 million euro as part of the second tranche of the Human Development Support Program II in Tajikistan.
According to the EU Delegation to Tajikistan, equity, efficiency and improved quality of health care and social services constitute the core principles of this budget support.
The Human Development Support program reportedly aims at contributing towards the achievement of key policy objectives in both health and social protection, thereby enabling more effective assistance to vulnerable segments of the population.
Within the health sector, the program aims at strengthening timely and cost effective supplies of quality pharmaceuticals at Primary Health Care facilities and rayon hospitals. Within the social protection sector, the program will help Tajikistan in meeting technical requirements necessary to implement pension system reforms and providing nationwide comprehensive coverage to all relevant groups.
The European Union and Tajikistan signed in 2014 the Human Development Support Program II, as a program in support of the implementation of reforms in the Health and Social Protection sectors in Tajikistan.
