Deputy Prime Minister, Azim Ibrohim, has visited the site for construction of a large universal sports complex in the Tajik capital.  The complex is being built on Karamov Street and the main purpose of the visit was for the deputy prime minister to get acquainted with the pace of construction, a source in the Tajik government told Asia-Plus in an interview. 

Ibrohim has reportedly ordered the builders to complete construction of the complex in July or August this year.

Meanwhile, the complex was expected to be put in commission in September this year.

The complex is being built in the area of ten hectares opposite the Omar Khayyam Park.  The Dushanbe administration is funding the construction of this universal sports complex and the estimated budget for the project is 600 million somoni.

The building owner is the Dushanbe Capital Construction Directorate and the general contractor is the Stroy Compleks (Construction Complex) Limited Liability Company.

Besides, nineteen domestic and foreign companies are in involved in the construction of this sports complex.  The complex is expected to create 600 new jobs.     

The complex design has been worked out by Russia’s Rostovgiprohakht.  The company has worked out the design taking into account the landscape.

The complex will include indoor and outdoor sports grounds, tennis courts as well as large and small swimming pools.  The complex will also include an ice sports palace.
