A Japanese folk music concert of the Japanese band “Denshya” will take place at the Assembly Hall of Russian-Tajik Slavonic University in Dushanbe on March 18, from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm.  Admission is free.

According to Japan’s Embassy in Dushanbe, the concert of “Denshya” is dedicated to celebration of Navrouz in 2019.

“Denshya” band will perform Japanese folk songs and play the Taiko (Japanese drums), Shamisen (Japanese string instrument) and Shakuhachi (Japanese flute).  The band consists of three players and each of the trio members also plays solo. Satoshi Katano plays the bamboo flute, Masanori Kaiden masterfully handles the drums at the same time he is also a wonderful actor who portrays different characters to the audience, and Nobuto Yamanaka plays the Shamisen and sings folk songs.

“Denshya” will also surprise audience by playing several famous non-Japanese songs using Japanese musical instruments.

“Denshya” toured many countries of the world and for the first time it will present Japanese folk music to the audience of Tajikistan.  The concert will be open to the wide audience, providing unique chance to get familiar with Japanese musical culture.

The concert of Japanese Band “Denshya” will also serve as another opportunity to demonstrate friendship between the Republic of Tajikistan and Japan, and give a great opportunity to all visitors to enjoy culture and musical traditions of Japan in lively atmosphere.
