Eleven athletes are representing Tajikistan in the World Judo Cadets Championships that is being held in the Kazakh city of Almaty from September 25 to September 28, according to Tajikistan’s National Olympic Committee (NOC)

In all, 664 competitors, including 256 boys and 208 girls, are reportedly participating in the event.  

Teen boys and teen girls under the age of 18 are participating in the competitions in sixteen weight categories.

An official source at Tajikistan’s NOC says Tajikistan’s junior team members include Abdullo Saifulloyev (-50kg), Sarvar Abdushukurov and Alisher Barotov (both -55kg), Firouzjon Melikboyzoda (-60kg), Ikromjon Qurbonov (-66kg), Ghanijon Ghaniyev (-73kg), Ozod Nosirov and Sunatullo Loiqov (both -81kg), Mansour Rahmon (-90kg),  Ibrohimjon Elmurodov (+90kg), and Ahliya Muminova (-52kg).  

Ghanijon Ghaniyev is current champion of Asian among cadets under the age of 18 (men’s), Mansour Rahmon is bronze medalist of Asia among cadets under the age of 18 (men’s) and Ahliya Muminova is bronze medalist of Asia among cadets under the age of 18 (women’s).     

The total prize of the Championships amounts to 80,000 U.S. dollar, including U.S.$2,300 for every first place, 1,300 U.S. dollars for second places and 700 U.S. dollars for third places.
