The World Health Organization (WHO) Office in Tajikistan recommends that the country’s government refrain from holding large events.

A relevant letter containing instructions and explanations was sent to President’s Executive Office on March 16.

WHO, in particular, calls on the Government to take into account that organization of mass entertainment events can lead to serious consequences for public health care.

“WHO could offer advisory and technical assistance in assessment of risks for public health care when it comes to extremely popular or especially crowded event,” reads the letter.

Concerning the recommendations for combating a novel coronavirus (COVID-19), WHO notes that social distancing and quarantine measures should be taken in proper time and diligently observed.

Recall, Tajikistan has been making preparations for Navrouz celebrations for already several weeks.
