A delegation of the Russian Research Anti-Plague Institute “Microbe”, which is subordinate to the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing, or Rospotrebnadzor, arrived in Dushanbe on March 16.

The delegation arrived in Tajikistan in accordance with an agreement reached during the 17th meeting of the Tajik-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation, according to the Russian Embassy in Dushanbe.

The purpose of the visit is for delegation to expand cooperation between Rospotrebnadzor and the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population of Tajikistan (MoHSPP) for the purpose of improving the sanitary and epidemic well-being of the population of the two countries.

Russian experts will prepare specific proposals on the mentioned issues in close collaboration with Tajik colleagues, the Russian Embassy said.

Rospotrebnadzor is the federal service responsible for the supervision of consumer rights protection and human wellbeing in Russia.  This service was founded in 2004, and was included in the structure of the Ministry of Health Care of Russia until 2012.  In May 2012 Rospotrebnadzor was removed from being under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and now reports directly to the Russian Government.  It functions on the authority of the Act of Federal Service on the base of the Administrative Regulation.
