On Monday October 31, President Emomali Rahmon received World Health Organization (WHO) European Regional Bureau Director Hans Henri Kluge.

According to the Tajik president’s official website, the parties discussed state and prospects of further expansion of cooperation between Tajikistan and the World Health Organization. 

Rahmon reportedly expressed satisfaction with expansion of the bilateral cooperation, regarded the meeting as a good opportunity to continue constructive dialogue and expressed gratitude to the WHO leadership for assistance to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and especially for assistance in providing the country with COVID-19 vaccines within the COVAX program.

The parties also discussed issues related to cooperation in developing and implementing the public health strategy designed for the period up to 2030, the program of training of medical personnel for the period up to 2030 and the program of development of medical facilities in Tajikistan designed for 2022-2025. 

President Emomali Rahmon was awarded the WHO prize for his valuable contribution to the development of the health sector. 


The WHO Regional Office for Europe (WHO/Europe) is one of WHO’s six regional offices around the world. It serves the WHO European Region, which comprises 53 countries, covering a vast geographical region from the Atlantic to the Pacific oceans.
