The Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan and Allameh Tabatabaei University of Iran have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Tehran to develop scientific cooperation.
Citing the Public Relations Department of the Iranian university, IRNA reported on November 7 that Chairman of the Center for Strategic Studies under the President of Tajikistan Khairiddin Usmonzoda and President of Allameh Tabatabaei University of Iran Abdollah Motamedi have signed the MoU to promote research, scientific and executive collaborations in different humanistic and social affairs based on common interests.
Enhancing scientific cooperation, inviting academics, researchers and students to exchange information, sharing books, scientific data and research documents, and facilitating participation of the Iranian and Tajik academic figures in seminars, training courses and international meetings are reportedly among the issues emphasized in the MoU.
Motamedi emphasized that his university as the only academic center active in humanities and the largest humanities university in the West Asia has 11 faculties.
As to Allameh Tabatabaei University’s international cooperation, he noted that the university possesses Persian language courses in Spain, China and Kyrgyzstan.
He also said that the Iranian university is determined to expand cooperation with Muslim and neighboring states, adding that Tajikistan and Iran enjoy cultural commonalities; so, the two countries can have joint scientific collaborations.
Usmonzoda, for his part, reportedly said that the Tajik think tank focuses on teaching issues concerning the contemporary world in particular based on the futuristic approach.
The MoU paves the ground for scientific cooperation with Allameh Tabatabaei University, he underlined, adding that the accord helps both sides introduce researchers and exchange viewpoints in order to improve their own position in the region and the world, which will play a key role in enhancing amicable ties between Iran and Tajikistan.
Allameh Tabatabaei University (ATU) is one of the largest and the leading specialized public university in humanities, social and cognitive sciences in Tehran, Iran. With nearly 14,000 students and 550 full-time faculty members the university named in honor of a prominent Iranian sage and philosopher Allameh Tabatabaei is under the supervision of Ministry of Science, Research and Technology. Since its establishment by integration of 27 independent colleges, faculties and institutes of higher education in 1983, the university has evolved into the country’s most eminent university in humanities and social sciences.
