On September 5, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Tajikistan Toshihiro Aiki, Chairman of Rogun City Sunatullo Saidzoda, Director of School No. 19 Bahriddin Karimov took part in the completion ceremony of the "School construction project in Chormagz village of Kadi Ob Jamoat of Rogun city".

The ceremony was also attended by representatives of the state executive authority, parents, schoolchildren and villagers.

A grant in the amount of 90,347 US dollars was allocated for the implementation of this project.

Previously, the school building was in a dilapidated state, during precipitation, the ceiling of the building leaked, which made it cold in the classrooms. This created unfavorable conditions for students to study.

In addition, there were not enough classrooms in the school, which forced some students to go far to study in neighboring villages.

A new building with 8 classrooms was built as part of the grant program. In addition, the local government of Rogun has built 2 additional classrooms.

This will allow 345 students to study in spacious and clean classrooms.

Japanese Ambassador Toshihiro Aiki noted that Japan has been assisting the republic in various fields for more than 30 years since Tajikistan gained independence, and education is one of the most important in bilateral cooperation between Japan and Tajikistan.

The head of Rogun and the villagers expressed gratitude to the Government and people of Japan for the assistance provided.

The Government of Japan intends to continue to provide support for the socio-economic development of Tajikistan.

The Government of Japan's Gratis Public Assistance and Humanitarian Security (GGP) programs are provided primarily to local authorities, educational and medical institutions, and international NGOs in developing countries. Since 1996, within the framework of the GGP, the Government of Japan has supported 453 humanitarian projects totaling $37.4 million aimed at the development of the republic, including 161 projects in the field of education.
