Courts in St. Petersburg last week ruled to deport 418 foreign citizens from Russia, while another 48 people must pay a fine leave Russia on their own accord within five days after the rulings comes into force, Ms. Darya Lebedeva, a spokeswoman for St. Petersburg courts, said on a post on Telegram.  

During the period from March 25 to March 29, the city’s courts reportedly received 584 materials on cases of administrative offenses under Article 18.8 of Russia Administrative Code -- violation by a foreign citizen or stateless person of the rules of entry into the Russian Federation or regime of stay in the Russian Federation.  

Of those 584 cases, the courts have reportedly considered 515, and by rulings handed over them 418 violators were fined with forced deportation from the country, and another 48 foreign citizens must pay a fine leave Russia on their own accord within five days after the rulings comes into force.  

The foreigners were rounded up in St. Petersburg during broad searches of vehicles along major thoroughfares.

Meanwhile, many Tajik migrant workers are leaving the country on their own accord, fearing an increase in xenophobia.

Russian law enforcement authorities have carried out sweeping checks of immigrants in the country after the Crocus City Hall attack killed 144 people.
