The second Toji Somon award ceremony, dedicated to Tajik Cinema Day (October 16), is being held in Dushanbe from October 15-19.

This year's theme for the ceremony is “Honoring True Art.”  In addition to national films, viewers will also be presented with films by filmmakers from Iran, Russia, and Belarus, an official source within the Tajikfilm State Institution told Asia-Plus in an interview.

The national film award ceremony Toji Somon is held with the support of the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, as part of the national program for film development in Tajikistan designed for 2023-2027.

As part of the Toji Somon festival ceremony, there will also be Iranian Film Days, Russian Film Days, Belarusian Film Days, an International Forum dedicated to the 95th anniversary of Tajik filmmaker Tohir Sobirov, an open lesson called "Teacher and Student," and other events.

Viewers will be presented with feature films, documentaries, and short films, including those produced in 2023-2024.

 

What will be shown during the film days of Russia, Belarus, and Iran

During the Iranian Film Days in Tajikistan, viewers will see films such as "The Captain", "The Hook", and "Sima’s Unfinished Narration".  These movies are being screened today at the Tohir Sobirov Cinema. The show starts at 5:00 PM.

During the Russian Film Days, "Cultural Comedy", "I Take a Step", and "Off the Rails" will be presented.  The screenings will take place at the "Navrouz" Cinema on October 16 from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

The Belarusian Film Days will be held at the "Vatan" Cinema on October 19 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Viewers will see films such as "On the Other Side", "Filmmakers", and "Waiting List".
