Officers from the Interior Ministry’s Office in Sughd province have detained a family that regularly begged near the "Amid" shopping center in Khujand.  It was revealed that the family engaged in begging despite owning two private houses and three cars, and having sufficient means for living, as reported by the Interior Ministry in the "Akbori VKD" (Interior Ministry News) program.

A 40-year-old Tutikhon Rahimova, along with her young children, went out onto the streets, while her husband, Murodjon Ghafourov, would drop them off and pick them up in their personal vehicle.

During the investigation, it was reportedly found that the family owns three cars, including an electric vehicle, and earns money by renting out two of them.

"Despite their financial stability, the family chose begging as an additional source of income," the report noted.

It was reportedly also revealed that two of the couple's children did not regularly attend school, as they were helping their mother beg.

Law enforcement held a discussion with the family, reminding them of the importance of engaging in lawful work.  If the violation is repeated, they may face legal consequences.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs once again urged citizens not to support begging and to direct charitable funds to homes for the disabled, orphanages, and socially beneficial projects.
