On October 30, the Confucius Institute at Tajik National University (TNU) held an award ceremony for scholarships of the Ambassador of China to Tajikistan, according to China’s Embassy in Dushanbe.  

The event was attended by Ji Shumin, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Tajikistan, TNU Rector Emomali Nasriddinzoda, heads of higher educational institutions, university and school students.


This year’s contest for the Chinese Ambassador’s Scholarship was highly competitive, with 30 of the most deserving students selected from hundreds of applicants. These students demonstrated excellent Chinese language skills and an active approach to life.

The winners, students, and schoolchildren from various regions of Tajikistan, have been actively studying Chinese for several years and participating in cultural events and competitions. Each of them received a scholarship certificate worth 7,500 somonis.


The Chinese Ambassador’s Scholarship is not only a recognition of achievements but also an incentive for further growth.  With this award, young people will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the Chinese language, culture, and history, opening new professional growth prospects.

At the award ceremony, Ambassador Ji Shumin congratulated the recipients and emphasized the importance of learning Chinese for strengthening bilateral relations.

TNU Rector Emomali Nasriddinzoda expressed gratitude to the Chinese Embassy for supporting education in Tajikistan, noting the continuous expansion of cooperation between the two countries in this field.

The year 2024 also marks the 20th anniversary of the Confucius Institute and the 16th anniversary of its operations at Tajik National University.
