Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will on Thursday meet U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and British Foreign Secretary David Miliband. He will also deliver a speech at the New York Council on Foreign Relations.
Lavrov is representing Russia at the 63rd session of the U.N. General Assembly.
The Lavrov-Rice talks will traditionally be held at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. This will be the first high-level Russian-American meeting after the events in South Ossetia.
Both Sergei Lavrov and Condoleezza Rice will speak to the members of the New York Council on Foreign Relations, one of the most prominent analytical centres in the United States.
Lavrov will also attend the opening of a high-level conference that will discuss the implementation of the millennium goals. The Russian foreign minister is scheduled to deliver a speech at a roundtable meeting on education and public health within the framework of that conference.
Later on Thursday, Sergei Lavrov will meet his British opposite number David Miliband.
In addition to that, the foreign ministers of the BRIC group, including Brazil, Russia, India and China, will meet in the Office of Russia’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations.
