Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said he is sure that diplomatic relations with Georgia would be restored in the future.

In his meeting with leaders of United Russia regional branches on Thursday, Putin said: “Till now I’m sure that it is necessary to maintain bilateral contacts at the public level.”

“It would be wrong to leave Georgia to the mercy of nationalists and irresponsible people. It is necessary to maintain contacts with the civilian society of this country,” the Russian prime minister stressed.

“Georgia is our close country and our neighbour. We have many-centuries ties and contacts with it. I believe that we’ll re-establish diplomatic relations with Georgia,” Putin pointed out.
