DUSHANBE, March 2, 2016, Asia-Plus -- A group of Russian and foreign journalists have come under artillery fire in Syria''s northern province of Latakia, the Interfax news agency reported Tuesday, citing Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov.

The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon near the border village of Kensaba.  A total of 33 journalists from Bulgaria, Greece, Germany, the U.S., China, Russia and Canada were involved, according to Interfax.

Among them were television reporters and a cameraman from Russia''s RT , RT reported.

The journalists were on a press tour to residential areas, where civilians have been returning to their homes since a cease-fire came into force.  Several journalists from Bulgaria, Canada and China received minor injuries, Konashenkov said.

The fire came from an area near the Syrian city of Idlib, located near the Turkish border, according to data from the Defense Ministry.  A total of eight shells were fired, which landed about 150 to 400 meters from the journalists.

The Syrian military believe members of Al-Nusra Front, a terrorist group banned in Russia, is responsible for the shelling, Interfax reported.
