DUSHANBE, July 8, 2016, Asia-Plus – A native of Tajikistan, Abdullo Davlatov, has reportedly been nominated for election to Russia’s lower house (State Duma) of parliament.
Abdullo Davlatov has written on his Facebook page that he is 18th on a federal list of candidates of the Party of Growth (Partiya Rosta) for election to State Duma.
This list was reportedly approved by the Party of Growth congress that took place on July 4.
Abdullo Davlatov, 51, is graduate of Tajik Medical University. He has lived in the Russian Federation since 1993. From 1993 to 2000, he lived and worked in the city of Izhevsk. In 2001, Davlatov moved to Moscow.
From 2007 to 2010, Davlatov was head of the Executive Committee of the Union of Tajikistanis in Russia. This Moscow-based public association reportedly grouped 42 Tajik organizations in Russia. On October 20, 2010, Russia’s Supreme Court handed down a ruling on liquidation of the Union of Tajikistanis in Russia following an application by the Russian Ministry of Justice. On the same year, Davlatov and his supporters established a new public association, the Union of Tajiks of Russia.
Abdullo Davlatov is chairman of the Union of Tajiks of Russia and the Association of Tajik Organizations “Samandar.”
Abdullo Davlatov is member of the Moscow Council for Nationalities’ Affairs.
The Party of Growth (until March 2016, "Just Cause" Pravoye Delo) is a political party in Russia with representatives in several local legislatures. Founded on February 18, 2009 as a merger of the Union of Rightist Forces (partly, other members joined to Solidarnost), Civilian Power and the Democratic Party of Russia, the party''s main policy stances are liberal free market economy, democracy and protecting the rights of the middle class. Although widely regarded as a pro-Kremlin party, it has already found itself in opposition to the presidential administration on several occasions. Business Ombudsman Boris Titov is the leader of the party.
