The total number of crimes committed by foreigners in Russia last year decreased by 0.9%, TASS reports, citing the Main Directorate for Migration Issues at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

The number of robberies they committed reportedly dropped by 27% and burglaries fell by nearly 26%. 

“By the end of 2024, the number of foreign nationals who committed crimes decreased by 3.8%.  The overall number of crimes committed by foreign nationals declined by 0.9%.  In particular, according to statistics, the number of serious and especially serious crimes committed by foreigners fell by 2.2%," the report states.

The Directorate for Migration Issues noted that, alongside the overall reduction in crimes among foreigners, the number of armed robberies dropped significantly—by 27%, while burglaries fell by 25.8%.

Additionally, crimes related to drug trafficking reportedly decreased by 12.3%, cases of intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm dropped by 12.5%, murders and attempted murders declined by 6.7%, and thefts by foreigners fell by 9.2%.

Earlier in 2024, Russian officials made contradictory statements about crime rates among foreign nationals in Russia, alternately claiming a sharp increase and a decline in such crimes.
