President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon will begin a working visit to the Sughd province on July 11, which will continue through July 13. The visit will begin with a trip to Ayni district, according to a source from the Sughd regional administration.
An official source within the Sughd regional administration says that during the visit the president is expected to tour Ayni, Panjakent, Devashtich, Guliston, Bobojon-Ghafourov, Khujand, and Buston.
“Dozens of new social facilities are scheduled to be inaugurated during the visit, including industrial plants, kindergartens, clinics, sewing workshops, and vertical wells,” the source stated.
In Panjakent, the president is expected to inaugurate over 30 new facilities, most of them remotely via online format. Local authorities say all preparations for the visit have been completed, and a meeting with local officials is also on the agenda.
Temporary road closures in Sughd province
The Sughd Regional Traffic Police Department (GAI) has announced a list of roads that will be temporarily closed during the president’s visit:
July 11 – Ayni & Panjakent
- In Ayni district -- from the local airport to the village of Sangiston, including the Dushanbe–Chanak highway
- In Panjakent – from the village of Shorcha to Roudaki and Loiq Sherali streets, via the Ayni–Panjakent road
July 12 – Panjakent & Devashtich
- In Panjakent -- Loiq Sherali Street, Rudaki Avenue to the city airport
- In Devashtich district -- central streets in the villages of Qalai Dust and Basmanday
July 13 – Guliston, Gafourov, Khujand & Buston
- In Guliston (formerly Qayroqqum) -- Syrdarya, Sulton Umarov, Rahim Jalil, Ismoili Somoni, 25 Years of Independence, and Kamoli Khujandi streets
- Ghafourov–Khujand highway
- In Buston (formerly Chkalovsk) -- BobojonGhafourov, Gagarin, Kurushi Kabir, Bobojon -Ghafourov (duplicate likely), and Huvaidulloyev streets
Authorities recommend residents plan ahead and follow temporary traffic diversions. Emergency services will maintain access throughout the closures.
