This autumn, the Tajik capital will become a major hub for young judo talent from across Asia. Dushanbe is set to host two prestigious judo tournaments under the banner of the Asian Judo Union (JUA): the Cadet Asian Cup and the Junior Asian Cup, scheduled for November 20–21 and November 22–23, 2025, respectively.

Both events are officially included in the JUA competition calendar and mark a significant milestone for Tajikistan’s growing reputation in international judo.

The Dushanbe Cadet Asian Cup 2025 will kick off the judo festivities on November 20. The tournament will bring together the best young athletes from across Asia, many of whom will be making their international debut. For coaches and national teams, the event offers a valuable opportunity to scout emerging talent and assess the preparation of the next generation of judokas.

Organizers have emphasized that the tournament will adhere to the high standards set by the International Judo Federation (IJF), ensuring a professional and competitive environment. The primary goal, they say, is to provide a platform where young judokas can showcase their full potential.

Just days later, from November 22 to 23, Dushanbe will host the Junior Asian Cup 2025, featuring some of the most promising athletes aged under 21. This tournament is considered a qualifying event for future continental and world championships, raising the stakes and drawing heightened attention from across the judo community.

Many of the junior competitors are already ranked in the IJF international system and have experience in Asian Open events, promising a series of intense and technically rich matchups. For the athletes, this event will serve as a crucial test of both their technical skills and mental readiness for senior-level competition.

The twin tournaments are expected to elevate Dushanbe’s profile as a serious destination for high-level judo and contribute to the sport’s development across Central Asia.

Judo is very popular in Tajikistan, becoming one of the country's leading sports due to the success of its athletes, the hosting of major international events, and dedicated efforts by the Tajikistan Judo Federation. The sport is a source of national pride, with the national team consistently performing well on the world stage, and events like the Dushanbe Grand Slam drawing huge, enthusiastic crowds.
