Sirojiddin Muhriddin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and Chairman of the National Commission of Tajikistan for UNESCO, delivered a speech at the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan on October 31, according to the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In his address, Muhriddin reportedly emphasized the rich history of the Tajik people and their ancestors' significant contributions to global science and culture. He noted that this heritage forms an essential part of universal human values, underscoring the country’s cultural and intellectual legacy.
The Tajik foreign minister also highlighted key global challenges, including climate change and the melting of glaciers. He recalled Tajikistan's active role in addressing these issues, citing the first High-Level International Conference on Glacier Preservation, which took place in Dushanbe in May 2025. This conference, Muhriddin stated, marked the start of a new phase in global cooperation on glacier preservation and climate change.
Additionally, the minister reaffirmed Tajikistan’s commitment to strengthening its cooperation with UNESCO in the areas of science, education, culture, and the environment. He also emphasized the growing importance of using artificial intelligence for sustainable development, highlighting it as a key area for future collaboration between Tajikistan and UNESCO.
