Tajikistan will finally see some rainfall in August, though it will be brief and scattered. Despite this, intense heat will persist in many regions, with temperatures remaining near 40°C in some areas, according to the country's Hydrometeorology Agency.
In the southern Khatlon province and the lowland districts subordinate to the center (RRP), temperatures are expected to remain 1°C –2°C above the seasonal norm. Forecasts suggest daytime highs of 26–28°C in valley areas and 23–25°C in the foothills.
During the first ten days of August, valley regions can expect nighttime temperatures between 22°C –27°C and daytime highs of 35°C –40°C, with southern areas reaching up to 43°C. As the month progresses, temperatures will gradually decrease, with nighttime lows ranging from 15°C –24°C and daytime highs dropping to between 32°C –40°C. Foothill areas will see slightly cooler conditions with daytime temperatures between 22°C –34°C and nighttime lows from 11°C –20°C.
Precipitation is mainly expected during the beginning and end of the month in the foothill regions, though monthly rainfall will remain below normal. Dust haze may persist in some valley locations.
In the northern Sughd province, temperatures are also expected to be slightly above average. Valleys will experience 26–27°C, while mountain zones will remain cooler at 15°C –17°C.
During early August, valley nighttime temperatures will range from 19°C –24°C, and daytime highs will reach 34°C –39°C. Later in the month, valleys can expect a slight dip to 13°C –21°C at night and 29–37°C during the day. In the mountainous areas, nights will be cooler at 6°C –15°C, and daytime temperatures will fluctuate between 18°C –27°C.
Short thunderstorms are likely in the first half and again toward the end of the month.
In the mountainous districts under republican subordination and the western regions of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region (GBAO), temperatures are expected to be about 1°C below seasonal norms, averaging 17°C –22°C. Throughout August, daytime temperatures will vary between 24–34°C, while nighttime lows will range from 10°C –18°C.
Thunderstorms and brief showers are anticipated primarily in the latter part of the month in the mountainous RRP districts. However, no significant precipitation is expected in the western areas of GBAO.
In the eastern parts of GBAO, temperatures will be about 1°C above the norm, averaging 10°C –12°C. Nighttime temperatures will fluctuate between 2°C –11°C, while daytime highs will range from 12°C –23°C.
Monthly precipitation in this region is forecasted to exceed the normal range of 5–17 mm, with occasional wind gusts reaching speeds of 12–17 meters per second in certain areas.
