DUSHANBE, April 17, Asia-Plus - This year, the Committee for Family and Women’s Affairs will focus on problems of orphans in Tajikistan , Ms. Qimmatgul Aliberdiyeva, Chairperson of the Committee for Family and Women’s Affairs, remarked at a news conference in Dushanbe on April 14.  

She also noted that it was planned to institute a special award for active women making considerable contribution to development of civil society in Tajikistan .  

Ms. Aliberdiyeva also noted that increasing number of divorces evoked serious concern.  “Last year, for example, 2900 divorces were registered in Tajikistan , which is 300 cases more compared to the previous year.” 

Commenting on the labor migration issues, the Committee chairperson noted that of 436,000 Tajik labor migrants working abroad, 9,000 were women.
