NATO Secretary General''s Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia Robert Simons thanked Uzbekistan for its support in NATO''s activity in Afghanistan.
NATO Representative sent a congratulating message to Uzbekistan, in which he noted that "Uzbekistan has a great significance for the region in a whole, and we greet developing relations between NATO and Uzbekistan," the press service of Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
To remind, Uzbekistan provided a transit corridor for NATO on its territory for shipment of non-military cargoes to Afghanistan in the beginning of the year.
Uzbekistan also cooperates with NATO in the frames of "Partnership for Peace" program since 1994. Uzbek academicians take part in NATO''s "Security through Science" program in frames of scientific cooperation. More than 100 scientific and technical projects were realized in Uzbekistan at this time.
