Tashkent is hosting the inauguration ceremony of President-elect Shavkat Mirziyoyev today, according to UzNews.
The inauguration is being held during a joint meeting of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate – upper and lower houses of the Uzbekistan’s parliament.
The inauguration is reportedly taking place without participation of representatives of foreign nations.
Following the death of President Islam Karimov, Shavkat Mirziyoyev was appointed by the Supreme Assembly as interim President of Uzbekistan on September 8, 2016. On December 5, 2016, he was declared Uzbekistan's 2nd President, after winning 88.6% of the vote in the Uzbekistani presidential election, 2016.
