Afghan soldiers who fled to Tajikistan after the Taliban came to power are isolated from the outside world and are concerned about their future fate. One of the escaped pilots said this to Reuters, Fergana writes.

The publication notes that on the night of August 16, 143 soldiers of the Afghan army in 16 planes and helicopters arrived at the airport in the city of Bokhtar in southern Tajikistan and were accommodated in the hostel of the local state university.

Later, on September 1, they were transported to a sanatorium in a mountainous area outside the capital of Tajikistan.

For more than a month, the military has been expecting to be transported to the United States or sent to third countries, such as Qatar, the United Arab Emirates or Germany, where they will join other Afghan refugees who are applying for American immigrant visas.

«When we ask the Tajik authorities [what will happen to us], they simply answer: please wait», — said a pilot on condition of anonymity.

Reuters interlocutors noted that among the Afghan military there are two female pilots, one of whom is eight months pregnant.
