Tajik hammer thrower Dilshod Nazarov won bronze medal in the Monterey Grand Prix Hammer Throw Challenge Competition.
He achieved 77.70, the official website of the tournament reports.
First place was given to Pavel Fajeka from Poland (81.39). Nazarov’s rival Hungarian Christian Pars is second (80.22).
Last season Nazarov fulfilled the Olympic norm. Each tournament he participate in is another preparation for the forthcoming Summer Olympic Games in London.
Following his successful participation in Brazil and Japan, Nazarov took part in the IAAF World Challenge in Ostrava, Czech Republic but was 10th due to health condition.
Another round of the World Grand Prix will be held in Dakar (Senegal) on June 16. It remains unclear whether Tajik sportsman will go there.
As reported by AP’s source in the Tajik Light Athletics Federation, Nazarov needs rest prior to the Olympic Games.
