DUSHANBE, March 7, 2012, Asia-Plus -- Mr. Hiroyuki Imahashi, Ambassador, Embassy of Japan in Dushanbe and Mr. Hikmatullo Karomatov, Chairman of the Federation of Karate Kyokushinkai of Tajikistan recently signed a grant contract for “The Project for Rehabilitation of Training Halls of Karate” for the total amount of US$89,433 under the Cultural Grassroots Grant Aid of the Government of Japan for the Republic of Tajikistan, press release issued by Japan’s Embassy said.
The Federation of Karate Kyokushinkai is an organization which has been actively involved in developing the sport in Tajikistan. Since its establishment in 1991 the Federation has been participating in various domestic and international sport events with the participation of well-known Tajik and foreign karate athletes.
The project for rehabilitation of the training halls of karate estimated at US$89,433 was specifically designed to ensure decent training environment for the youth involved in Kyokushinkai Karate-do. Modern equipment will be provided under the project, which will significantly enhance the technical base of the Federation. At the same time, the project scope involved rehabilitation of two sport halls of the Kyokushinkai Federation.
Estimated population that will be benefited by the project is about 600 trainees. Currently 496 people are practicing in Dushanbe.
