Today, the medalists returned from the Olympic Games in Paris. Along the entire route of the cars from the airport itself, they were greeted by crowds of people.
14 athletes from Tajikistan participated in the Olympic Games, three of whom won bronze medals. Two of them are our judoists: Somon Makhmadbekov in the weight up to 81 kg and Temur Rakhimov in the weight over 100 kg. The third medal was brought home by boxer Davlat Boltaev in the weight category up to 92 kg.
The athletes who won a historic victory at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris received well-deserved awards from the Tajik authorities: a monetary reward of 200 thousand somoni from the President of Tajikistan, a one-room apartment from the mayor of Dushanbe and $10 thousand from the country's Youth and Sports Committee. All three athletes, as well as the President of the Judo Federation of Tajikistan, Ismoil Mahmadzoir, were awarded the Sharaf Order of the 2nd degree.
The Olympic Games in Paris 2024 began on July 26 and lasted until August 11. Athletes from 205 countries took part in them.
