For the first time in Central Asia, the city of Samarkand will host the World Rowing and canoeing Championships at non-Olympic distances.
According to the Asia-Plus Rowing Federation of the republic, about 400 rowers from more than 57 countries will take part in the championship. The winners and prize-winners of the Olympic, Asian Games, World and Asian championships will compete at the World Cup.
The competitions will be held on August 23-25, and representatives of the Tajik national team will also take part in them.
The championship will be held on the only rowing channel in Central Asia. 20 sets of awards will be awarded (10 in kayaking and 10 in canoeing).
In 2013 and 2018, the Samarkand Rowing Channel hosted the Asian Championships, and in 2023 - the Asian U19, U23, and paracanoe championships.
Tajik athletes last year won bronze medals in the four-man canoe (C-4) 500 meters among boys under 18, in the team race in the four-man kayak (C-4) 500 m. among women, in the two-man canoe (C-2) 200 m and in the canoe-two (C-2) per 1000 m.
