DUSHANBE, June 28, Asia-Plus -- “We will take all necessary measures to further expand political, economic and cultural ties between Pakistan and Tajikistan,” Mr. Muhammad Mian Sumra, Chairman of Pakistan’s Senate, told journalists at the Dushanbe airport on June 28 before leaving Tajikistan.
Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament), who was seeing off his Pakistani counterpart, noted that the Tajik and Pakistani sides had signed a joint statement, in which they expressed readiness for further expansion of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
“The Pakistani side, expressed readiness in investing in the construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power station in Tajikistan as well as in the projects providing link to the Karachi port and integration into world’s market,” the Tajik speaker said.
He added that a Pakistani working group would arrived in «Tajikistan in near future to study the possibility of growing sugar-cane in Tajikistan.
