DUSHANBE, July 18, Asia-Plus -- Minister of Interiors Khumdin Sharipov told a press conference in Dushanbe on July 17 that criminal proceedings have been filed against 62 law enforcement officials in January-June 2006.
According to him, the majority of them have faced charges of corruption, fraud, abuse of office and drug trafficking. The minister noted that in 2005, criminal proceedings were instituted against 64 law enforcement officials
Khumdin Sharipov stressed that the ministry annually carries out rotation of its personnel for the purpose of preventing corruption among them. According to him. At present 16,500 people are working with the law enforcement agencies in Tajikistan.
