DUSHANBE, August 15, Asia-Plus - The closed joint-stock company “TT-Mobile” (trademark of MLT or Mobile Lines of Tajikistan) is supposed to cover Dushanbe completely and extend its operation into suburbs of the Tajik capital by the ed of this year.
According to information from MLT headquarters in Dushanbe, for these purpose “TT-Mobile” has concluded a contract with “Siemens”, internationally known producer of telecommunications equipment, on delivery of equipment. The source says they have to date installed 10 basic stations NodeB, modernized supporting network for functioning of 3G/W-CDMA, and installed RNC controller and switching and transmission commutation equipment providing high-speed access to Internet.
We will recall that TT-Mobile has offered its clients cellular communication services in 3G standard since June 2005.
According to information from the Ministry of Communications, at present nine cellular operators, licensed to provide cellular communication services in GSM, AMPS, CDMA450, CDMA20001X, 3G-UMTS and 3G standards, are functioning in Tajikistan: MLT; “Babilon-M; “Indigo-Tajikistan”; “Indigo-Smomoncom”; “TAKOM”; “M. TECO”; “TajPhone”; “Telecom Inc” (Skytel); and “TK-Mobile.” A number of clients using cellular phones has exceeded 550,000 people in Tajikistan.

Tajikistan’s open joint-stock company (OJSC) “Tajiktelecom”, the state-owned national telecommunications operator of Tajikistan, owns 25 percent of the shares and the Russian cellular operator “MegaPhone” assumes the 75% ownership interest in the joint-stock company “TT-Mobile.”
