DUSHANBE, January 10, Asia-Plus -- Sergey Kalinin, deputy head of Russia’s Arguments and Facts (AiF) for regional development, remarked at a news conference in Dushanbe on January 9 that Tajik print media should observe copyright law when reproducing materials from other media.
According to him, during his staying in Dushanbe he has familiarized himself with local newspapers and found a number of instances of violation of copyright law by some of them.
In particular, he noted that he intends to submit to the AiF legal office a list of Tajik newspapers that reproduce materials of AiF without reference to the primary source.
“We are actively fighting violation of copyright law and have good experience in this and won cases,” said Kalinin, “Thus, one Russian-language newspapers in the United States was closed down last year for reproduction of our materials without reference to AiF.”
