DUSHANBE, April 12, -- Another three TV stations in Tajikistan have received broadcasting licenses, Asadullo Rahmonov, Chairman of the Committee for TV and Radio-Broadcasting, said at a news conference in Dushanbe on April 12.

Over the first quarter of 2007, the licensing commission has granted broadcasting licenses to three TV stations in northern Tajikistan: Anis (Konibodom); Kurushkada (Istaravshan) and Simoi Mustaqim (Qairoqqum).

Barakatullo Abdulfayzov, member of the Committee’s licensing commission, said in an interview with Asia-Plus that a processing of acquiring the broadcasting license takes two-three months.  According to him, sometimes applicants fail to submit all required paperwork opportunely that also lead to drugging on the term of granting the license.  “If there are no any problems with the station’s charter documents and the station submits all required paperwork, the license is granted without any problems,” Abdulfayzov said.

He added that if the company does not start broadcasting within three months after getting the broadcasting license, the license will be revoked.

Some 13 private TV and radio companies currently operate in Tajikistan.  At present, another eight companies are waiting for getting the broadcasting license, according to Abdulfayzov.
