DUSHANBE, August 21, Asia-Plus — The Tajik section (Dushanbe-Panji Poyon) of the optical-fiber line intended for establishing telecommunications network between Tajikistan and Afghanistan has been finished, Asia-Plus has learned from Deputy Transport and Communications Minister, Beg Zuhurov.
According to him, he recently discussed with Afghan Communications Minister Amirzai Sangin in Kabul issues related to construction of a 300-kilometer optical-fiber line from Tajikistan’s Panji Poyon to Kabul.
“The Afghan minister considers that establishment of the telecommunications network between the two countries will give Tajikistan a good opportunity to strengthen its positions on the telecommunications market in Central Asia,” the deputy minister said.
He added that the Tajik side had promised to provide assistance to Afghan Telecom with training of specialists for it. “We also discussed various investment projects,” Zuhurov said.
