DUSHANBE, September 24, Asia-Plus — A meeting of the Coordination Committee on preventing drug addiction that was held at the Drug Control Agency (DCA) at the end of last week has found the results of work of relevant ministries and agencies in this direction satisfactory.

During the meeting, it was noted that the committee for youth affairs, sports and tourism had organized various activities on propagating healthy lifestyle both in the capital city and the provinces and the large number of young people had been drawn into those activities.  During those actions, various leaflets and brochures prepared under support of international organizations and the country’s counternarcotics agency have been distributed among the activities participants.

In the third quarter of this year, the education ministry (MoE) has organized summer camps for children from vulnerable families and waifs, where its specialists jointly with representatives from other interested ministries and organizations have organized training on the issues related to preventing drug addiction.

Over the report period, the ministry of health (MoH) and the republican narcology center have held a number of events to ensure implementation of laws on fighting drug trafficking and prevention spread of drug addiction among the population.

The next meeting of the Coordination Council is scheduled for December this year.
