DUSHANBE, March 4, Asia-Plus -- A two-way trade between Tajikistan and Ukraine in January 2008 valued at $7 million, which is more than two times more than the same period of 2007 ($3.1 million), according to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MoEDT).
The source at MoEDT said that imports accounted for some 96 percent of the total volume of trade between the two countries in January 2008. Tajik exports to Ukraine amounted to $300,000 and its imports from Ukraine amounted to $6.7 million.
According to data of the State Committee for Statistics, a trade between Tajikistan and Ukraine in 2007 valued at US$61.2 million. This consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Ukraine estimated at US$8.5 million and Tajikistan’s imports from Ukraine worth US$52.6 million.
Ukraine supplies mainly wheat flour and grains to Tajikistan, and main items of Tajikistan’s exports to Ukraine are cotton and fruits.
