DUSHANBE, March 5, Asia-Plus  -- Speaking at an annual general meeting of Tajikistan’s Academy of Sciences, Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan, Mr. Ramazan Abdulatipov, who was also given a title of the full member of the Tajik Academy of Sciences, announced on March 4 that he has decided to establish four scholarships for female post-graduate students at the Tajik Academy of Sciences, according to the Russian Embassy in Dushanbe. 

The monthly scholarships of 150 somonis will be given by presentation of the Tajik Academy of Science.  

Besides, Ambassador Adbulatipov presented Academician Mamadsho Ilolov, President of Tajikistan’s Academy of Sciences, with Russia’s prestigious Pushkin Medal. 

We will recall that Tatiana German, Chairperson of Tajikistan’s Pushkin Society, and Maysara Kalonova, member of the board of the Tajik Society of Friendship and Cultural Ties with Foreign Countries, along with Ilolov won the Pushkin Medal in December 2007.  

The Pushkin Medal, given by the Russian government, recognizes contributions to Russia in the sphere of Russian culture and education.

Established in 1999 by former Russian President Boris Yeltsin, the award commemorates the 200th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Pushkin. 

Among the winners of this prestigious award are Dmitry Likhachyov, a renowned scholar of humanities, George Soros, an American philanthropist, Czech President Vaclav Klaus, Mongolian President Nambaryn Enchbajar and Croatian President Stipe Mesic.
